Scanning FAQ

Use the Windows Scan app by typing 'Windows Scan' in the Start menu search. Place your document face-down on the flatbed glass, align it with the corner guides, and close the lid. Select your scanner, choose document type and color settings, then click Scan to save the file to your computer.

Install your printer manufacturer's scanning software - HP Smart app, Canon IJ Scan Utility, Brother iPrint&Scan, or Epson Scan 2. Open the software, place your document on the scanner glass or in the automatic document feeder (ADF), and follow the on-screen prompts to scan and save your documents.

Download and install the HP Smart app on your computer. Place your document face-down on the scanner glass, open HP Smart, click 'Scan', and select your scanning preferences like color mode and file format. The scanned document will be saved to your specified folder.

This is called copying - place the original document on the scanner glass, then press the Copy button on your printer's control panel. For separate scan and print operations, first scan the document using your printer's software, save it to your computer, then open and print the saved file.

Use the Brother iPrint&Scan software available from Brother's website. Install the software, place your document on the scanner, open iPrint&Scan, select your Brother printer, choose scan settings like resolution and file type, then click Scan to complete the process.

Install Canon IJ Scan Utility from Canon's support website for your printer model. Launch the utility, place your document on the flatbed scanner, select the appropriate scan type (Auto, Document, or Photo), and click the corresponding button to scan and save your document.

Use the printer's control panel to initiate scanning - press the Scan button, select 'to Computer' or 'to PC', choose your computer from the list, and press OK. Ensure Canon IJ Scan Utility is installed on your computer to receive the scanned files.

Enable WSD (Web Services for Devices) scanning by going to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, click your printer, then 'Manage' and 'Add scanner'. Place your document on the scanner and use Windows Scan app or Windows Fax and Scan to capture the document.

For multiple pages, use your printer's Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) if available - load documents face-up in the ADF tray, open your scanning software, select 'ADF' as the source, and scan multiple pages in one operation. Single pages should go on the flatbed glass face-down.

Download and install Epson Scan 2 software from Epson's website. Open the software, place your document on the scanner bed, select Document Mode for text or Photo Mode for pictures, adjust settings like resolution and file format, then click Scan to save your document.

Connect your printer to your computer via USB or ensure both are on the same Wi-Fi network. Place the document face-down on the scanner glass with the top-left corner aligned to the arrow guides, then use either the printer's scan button or scanning software on your computer to initiate the scan.

Open the HP Smart app, ensure your HP printer is connected, and click the Scan tile. Position your document on the scanner glass, preview the scan area, adjust settings like resolution and color mode, then click 'Scan' to save the file directly to your computer's Documents folder.

Use Epson Scan 2 or press the scan button on your Epson printer's control panel and select your computer as the destination. The Epson Event Manager software will automatically receive the scan - you can configure default settings like file location and format in the Event Manager preferences.

Install Brother iPrint&Scan, then use the 'Push Scan' feature by pressing the Scan button on your Brother printer and selecting your computer from the destination list. The scanned document will automatically appear in the iPrint&Scan software where you can edit, save, or email it.

Launch Canon IJ Scan Utility and click 'ScanGear' for advanced settings control. This opens the full scanner driver interface where you can preview your document, select specific scan areas, adjust brightness and contrast, and choose detailed output settings before scanning to your computer.

Place the document face-down on the scanner glass, open Canon IJ Scan Utility, and click 'Document' for text documents. The software will automatically detect the document size, apply text enhancement, and save it as a searchable PDF to your default scan folder.

For batch scanning, load multiple pages in the ADF (if your Canon printer has one) and select 'Multi-page' in Canon IJ Scan Utility. All pages will be scanned into a single PDF file, or you can choose to save each page as a separate file in the settings.

Use HP's built-in scan-to-email feature by pressing the Scan button on the printer panel, selecting 'Email', entering your email address, and sending the scanned document directly to your inbox. Alternatively, use HP Smart app to scan and save locally on your computer.

Set up 'Scan to PC' by running the Brother ControlCenter software and configuring scan shortcuts. Press the Scan button on your Brother printer, select the configured PC destination, and the document will automatically scan and appear in your designated folder with your preferred settings.

Scanner and printer functions use different drivers - check Device Manager for scanner driver issues or yellow warning icons. Try reinstalling your printer's full software package (not just basic drivers) from the manufacturer's website, as scanning requires additional software components that basic Windows drivers don't include.
